THEO Walcott is "eyeing a switch to MLS" this summer, according to a report by The Sun.

Despite signing a two-year deal with Saints in May 2021, Walcott has fallen down the pecking order this season.

The 33-year-old featured regularly during pre-season and started against Everton in the first game of the Premier League campaign.

However, he has made just 12 appearances in 2021-22, failing to find the net.

His last minutes for the first team were as a late substitute in the 3-2 win at Tottenham Hotspur in February.

But the former Arsenal and England star has not even been part of the 20-man matchday squad for Saints in the past six fixtures, with the likes of Moussa Djenepo, Shane Long and even 16-year-old Tyler Dibling selected ahead of him on the bench on occasion.

The Sun claim Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is "happy" to let Walcott leave this summer, with the report going on to claim the Saints academy graduate had considered a move to MLS prior to his return to the south coast.

Los Angeles and New York have been touted as his preferred destinations.

Across his two spells with Saints, Walcott has scored eight goals from 58 appearances.
