NATHAN Redmond has been ranked as Saints’ most creative source over the course of the Premier League season, by a BetVictor study.

Using data scouting, every player in the division has been rated by their open play creative performance over the 2021-22 campaign.

The rating algorithm considers several factors such as chance creation, ball progression, and ability to break opposition lines.

And it makes for good reading for 28-year-old forward Redmond, whose 2.16 completed passes into the 18-yard box per 90 is the most of any player in the bottom half of the table.

The former England international provided five assists for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side in the Premier League this season, but is out of contract by next summer.

Speculation has mounted over Redmond’s future, although the Austrian started him in each of the last five matches of the league campaign.

Looking further into the statistical analysis, it emerges that Redmond is the joint eighth ranked English player in the league for assists per 90 minutes, with the same rate as Harry Kane (0.25).

Redmond also has the joint best expected assists rate of any English player outside of the Premier League’s top four clubs with 0.21 per 90, matching Bukayo Saka and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

He is the 9th best ranking player in the league for completed crosses into the 18-yard box with 0.69 per 90, and the 32nd best player in the league for key passes per 90 with 1.67.

The data, for players who have played over 900 minutes of league action only, Redmond is 11th of the 20 best creators for each Premier League side this season.
