TOTTENHAM Hotspur have reportedly named their price for midfielder Harry Winks, with Saints and Newcastle said to have shown early interest.

Former England international Winks – who has been at the London club since he was five-years-old – could be set for a summer transfer.

The 26-year-old’s only Premier League action in the final three months of the season came through brief substitute appearances, under boss Antonio Conte.

The Daily Mail report that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will listen to offers between the fee of £20-25million for the academy man.

They add there is not likely to be a shortage of interest, and that Saints and Newcastle are two suitors already keen.

The Toon have considerably deeper pockets than their St Mary’s counterparts despite both clubs undergoing takeovers this season.

The Saudi-backed consortium have already flexed their muscles in the January transfer market, while Sport Republic look set to follow a similar model with Saints.

Winks has made over 200 appearances for Spurs, including the 2019 Champions League final, earning 10 caps for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions side.

However, his last cap came in November 2020. The report adds there is an expectation for a number of Spurs players to be sold in the upcoming window, as Conte tailors his Champions League-qualifying squad to his liking.

This is not the first time Saints have been credited with an interest in Winks – The Daily Star had reported long-running interest as recently as March.

James Ward-Prowse is to be the subject of interest from top clubs across the country this window, although under contract for four more years, while Oriol Romeu turns 31 next season.

The development of Ibrahima Diallo and Will Smallbone has likely not gathered as much pace as would have been liked, and Saints have sometimes felt short in the midfield area.

Sources have told the Daily Echo that Saints could be ‘very busy’ and are targeting players all over the pitch, as we head into the summer transfer window next month.
