CALEB Watts says "people paying to come and see you play is so big for me" as he prepares for life on loan in League One with Morecambe.

Watts, 20, joined Derek Adams's Shrimps on a season-long deal from Saints this week.

The Australia under-23 international has made four senior appearances for Saints, but headed away to get some game-time at Crawley Town in January.

However, disaster struck for the midfielder when he was forced off injured, just minutes after coming on for his debut.

That proved to be the end of Watts's season, but he is now raring to go again, this time with Morecambe.

"I'm buzzing to get started," Watts told the club's website.

"Obviously I've heard a lot about the club and I've come to see the ground and I really like what I've seen and heard, so buzzing to get going.

"I heard about the interest from Morecambe through my agent, came and met the gaffer and really liked what he had to say.

"I just thought it was a good project and I can't wait to get going."

He added: "Obviously my time at Crawley was frustrating and short.

"But playing in front of the fans and even getting jeered as I was limping off the pitch really got me excited for what's to come.

"I can't wait to experience more of it."

Morecambe finished 19th in League One last season, following their promotion.

Asked what he hopes to get out of his time in Lancashire, Watts explained: "Experience, that feeling of winning, playing in front of people.

"Just get that excitement back of playing in front of people and people paying to come and see you play is so big for me. I can't wait to get going."

He added: "I think (I'll bring) energy, like to get forward and make stuff happen for the team.

"I like to think I'm quite exciting to watch. I'll give my all for the team and hopefully pick up a few goals and assists along the way."
