NEW Eastleigh signing Ousseynou Cisse admitted he was unsure about joining the club at first, but knew “straight away” it was right after researching.

The 31-year-old Mali international became the Spitfires' fourth summer signing ahead of the new National League season, following his departure from Oldham.

Cisse has a wealth of Football League having featured over 100 times across spells with MK Dons, Gillingham, and Leyton Orient since his arrival in the UK in 2017.

Current Eastleigh midfielder Jake Hesketh, who joined the club after his departure from Saints last summer, played a role in bringing Cisse to Hampshire.

Explaining how the move to the Silverlake Stadium came about, he admitted: “My agent rang me two weeks ago, and said to me ‘we’ve got a club for you’.

“At first, I was thinking ‘I dunno’ because I didn’t know about the club. But then obviously I did the research and I spoke to Jake Hesketh, because I played with him at MK Dons.”

Cisse continued: “He told me good things about the club. Talking with the manager, I had a good feeling – and when I’ve got a good feeling, I’m going with it straight away.

“I know what I can do, I’m ready and really excited to help the club to get promoted hopefully.”

After getting stuck into his first day of training with the non-league outfit, Cisse revealed: “I had a good welcome, it’s a good squad.

“It was not too hard because it was my first day and I wanted to get to know everyone, I was a bit impressed by the squad and am excited to start.

I’m going to try to give my best, try to help the young lads. I know what you need to do to have a good season. I don’t like to talk about myself, I will let the fans see me on the pitch and then judge me.”

He added: “I don’t like to talk about myself or my goals, I talk about as a team. I want to win every game, so I’m going to make sure with my experience we go in the right direction. If you put everything in during the week, it makes it easier on Saturday.”
