PRE-SEASON is under way at Staplewood Campus with a large section of the Saints team returning this week.

Each of the three new signings – Gavin Bazunu, Mateusz Lis and Armel Bella-Kotchap were present for the first day of sessions.

However, Ralph Hasenhuttl and his new number two, Ruben Selles, were working with a reduced group.

The international stars of Saints are not due to return to begin their initial pre-season testing for around 10 days after the first group.

This is to allow apt recovery time after a long season, which ended in a slog both physically and mentally.

But also among those who is not pictured as having returned is Shane Long. The 35-year-old Irishman is currently out of contract at the end of this month.

Saints insisted his situation was still undecided when they released the retained list two weeks ago, while his wife claimed on social media that no talks had taken place.

It is likely that Long departs St Mary’s, after eight years with the club.
