SAINTS promote successful youth coach Carl Martin and bring in Notts County’s Alex Clapham to complete their first-team coaching group.
Martin led Saints under-18s to the Premier League South title last season and is moved up to the support the senior side, with focus on work in possession.
Meanwhile, Clapham, 33, joins to lead the coaching on set-pieces having previously held positions in Spain and Sweden, as well as with Sheffield United and Manchester City.
The duo complete the support group for manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, after Dave Watson, Kelvin Davis and Craig Fleming departed St Mary’s at the end of last season.
Martin and Clapham team up with number two Ruben Selles, first-team coach Richard Kitzbichler, goalkeeping coach Andrew Sparkes and head of sports science Alek Gross at Staplewood Campus.
Former Watford youth coach, Martin, 35, spent the 2020-21 campaign shadowing manager Hasenhuttl and his staff to aid his development, with Saints’ youngsters reaping the benefits of that experience last season.
Clapham has dedicated himself to analysing and coaching set-pieces and is a UEFA pro license holder having attained the highest coaching qualification during a stint in Spain.
