SAINTS have reportedly been joined by fellow Premier League outfit Crystal Palace in the chase for Wolves starlet Morgan Gibbs-White.

The England under-21 international, who finished last season with an impressive loan spell with Sheffield United in the Championship, could supposedly command a fee in the region of £20 million.

Previous reports in the Sun indicated that Saints and top-flight newcomers Nottingham Forest were both interested in the attacking midfielder, who is keen to establish himself as a first-team figure in the Premier League.

Now, the Daily Mail suggests that Crystal Palace view the promising prospect as the perfect replacement for the departing Conor Gallagher, who impressed on loan at Selhurst Park from London neighbours Chelsea last term.

Gibbs-White’s future is reportedly unclear, with the vast majority of his 46 Premier League appearances coming off the bench.

Whilst the talent will return to first-team training with Wolves this pre-season, it remains to be seen whether he features in Bruno Lage’s plans for next season.

In total, the 22-year-old has only started 10 top-flight games for Wolves, with his last start coming in the penultimate game of the 2020-21 season, a 1-0 defeat away at Everton.

Stafford-born Gibbs-White has been capped seven times by England’s under-21s, following on from appearances from under-16 level through to under-19s.

Across the six youth teams, Gibbs-White has represented England 35 times in total, scoring six times.

With Saints’ summer business so far taking a youthful approach to incoming transfers, Gibbs-White arguably provides Saints with both untapped potential and at least some Premier League experience.

His 129 senior games of football across the top two tiers include seven appearances in the Europa League, whilst Gibbs-White is fresh off the back of his most productive season, scoring 11 times and providing nine assists in 35 games for Sheffield United.
