HAMPSHIRE spinner Mason Crane insists his side “are not scared of anyone” as they get set to bid for a place at T20 Finals Day.

A fourth-placed finish in the south group of the short-format competition meant the Ageas Bowl side make the trip to face north section winners Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston tomorrow.

But with the south coast side having won nine of their past 10 games to progress to the knockout stages, Crane is adamant the Hawks can tame the Bears away from home.

“We are happy to play anyone,” said the 25-year-old.

“The aim is always to get through and we had a good away quarter-final last year, so we are looking forward to it.

“It has been brilliant. We have played some really good cricket along the way and we are getting where we need to be now.

“It was a tricky start in the tournament but since then we have really hit our straps. Nine out of 10 is good any year in any format – we are really happy with that.”

Birmingham won 10 of their 14 games in the competition to finish ahead of Derbyshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire in their group.

Surrey, Somerset and Essex made up the last eight alongside the Hawks.

“We are making a habit of getting through, which is great and, like I said earlier, we are playing some really good cricket at the moment,” said Crane.

“We are not scared of anyone, anywhere. If all goes well, we will have the next three games in a row at Edgbaston.

“We are all pretty excited and looking forward to it.”

Should Hampshire progress, they would take part in Finals Day at Edgbaston on Saturday, July 16.
