HAMPSHIRE’S Brad Wheal has signed for Warwickshire on a short-term red-ball loan deal, and could play an important role in deciding his parent side’s season.
The bowler will be available for Warwickshire’s County Championship match against league-leaders Surrey, which begins tomorrow.
Giles White, Hampshire director of cricket, explained the decision: “Brad is currently just missing out on our starting XI and this provides him with an opportunity to influence an important game in the Championship season.”
Surrey are ahead of Hampshire, who are chasing a first County Championship title since 1973, by 14 points at the summit of the division.
With four matches left to play, a positive result for Warwickshire could swing the title-race back into Hampshire's favour.
