SAINTS boss Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed both Theo Walcott and Nathan Tella would miss Saturday’s Premier League curtain-raiser at Tottenham (3pm).
Tella has however been back in training with the St Mary’s outfit after picking up a knee injury during pre-season.
Asked for an injury update ahead of the trip to north London, the Austrian boss said: “Theo Walcott hasn’t had pre-season so far. He is not back in training.
“Nathan Tella was also out with injury for longer. He was training today for the first time, so he will also not be available for the weekend.”
The boss also gave a fitness update on full-back Romain Perraud, who suffered a fractured foot at the end of last campaign.
“Romain has had an injury at the end of last season and missed some parts of the pre-season now. I think nearly half of the time he missed,” said Hasenhuttl.
“The past two weeks he was training and so now he is coming closer to be an option. That’s a good thing."
