SAINTS are reportedly pushing to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi on loan, with the player set to make a decision on his immediate future soon.

The 21-year-old former England international already has 126 first-team appearances under his belt at the Stamford Bridge side, despite his young age.

However, he made just 15 appearances in the Premier League last campaign and was not included by Thomas Tuchel in the Blues’ season opener at Everton.

Hudson-Odoi has featured in Chelsea’s Champions League and Europa League winning campaigns, having signed a five-year bumper contract at Cobham in 2019.

The youngster, who has also played as a wing-back in five-at-the-back shapes, could look to seek a loan move for regular first-team football this season.

Daily Echo:

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports Saints are pushing to complete a loan move for Hudson-Odoi, but that he also discussed with Leicester City this week.

The report adds that the winger will make his own decision on where he wants to go in the coming days.

Saints are in need of attacking reinforcements, further highlighted by their 4-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has already been open about his desire to sign another forward, amongst other positions, while they are yet to use up a loan slot for this season.

Saints have made six additions so far in the transfer window, which remains open until September 1, but all have been on a permanent basis.

Hudson-Odoi has scored four goals in 72 Premier League appearances since making his debut at Chelsea, but has also contributed in the FA Cup every year since 2019.
