RALPH Hasenhuttl was asked again about Che Adams’ future and admitted Saints “will never be a team that can put down offers of the right money for any players”.

However, the Austrian was defiant and keen to quash completely any chance of the Scottish international leaving in a deal that is not beneficial to the St Mary’s side.

Hasenhuttl, alongside CEO Martin Semmens, faced questions from supporters on the future of the 26-year-old following a report linking Everton interest in The Athletic.

At the time, Semmens insisted there is no chance of a loan deal between the two clubs taking place, with Hasenhuttl keen to reiterate that.

But the former RB Leipzig man was honest, previewing the Premier League clash with Leeds United, and admitted every player does have their price.

“I can quash that (loan). Definitely nothing serious behind this rumour, we are not on the way we want to loan players like him to anywhere,” Hasenhuttl said.

“But I think we will never be a team that can put down offers of the right money for any players, this will never happen in this club. We had to sell our captain in the first year, our best goalscorer in the second one.

“When we think the price is the right one then we have always said that we are the club that will sell the players. But this will not happen now,” he added.

Hasenhuttl, who sat alongside Semmens, managing director Toby Steele and head of women’s Marieanne Spacey-Cale at the BBC Radio Solent event, insisted he enjoyed the evening in front of the fans.

“They are not tough questions, they are all questions you have to take very seriously and this is what I tried to do,” Hasenhuttl reflected.

“I’m not the guy who is then afterwards looking on social media at what they are saying, but it is a pleasure always for me to meet them and to explain my thoughts. This is okay for me.”

He continued: “It is not about positive or negative, to realise the situation we are in and to realise the situation the club is in is very important for every football fan.

“And for us it is important to think about what they are thinking about what we are doing. It’s good that you can then put some arguments that helps them to understand more what we are doing.”
