WOLVES manager Bruno Lage has insisted the Black Country club have made no contact with Saints target Goncalo Ramos.

The 21-year-old Portuguese striker emerged as a target for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, with reports of a deal worth at least £25million being discussed.

Hasenhuttl is keen to add a striker to his ranks with only Che Adams, Sekou Mara and Adam Armstrong currently to call upon.

However, Wolves and Newcastle United have also been named in the running for the Benfica starlet – who has scored 19 goals for their first team and 14 at Portuguese under-21 international level.

But Lage, speaking ahead of their Premier League clash with Spurs, admitted the Molineux side – with strong links to Portugal – have made no contact.

Daily Echo:

"We're still looking for a striker. In the last few days I have received so many messages about him (Ramos),” Lage said.

“I haven't talked with him and we didn't make any offer for him.”

He added: "Of course, who doesn't want to have this kind of player, but we have our own profile and we have more targets for that position."

Wolves have already spent up to £40million on Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes this week, but could receive a similar cash injection from the reported sale of Morgan Gibbs-White to Nottingham Forest.

A two-way bidding war could open up for Ramos, with Newcastle potentially battling Saints for the Portuguese’s signature.
