RALPH Hasenhuttl reveals he did not even discuss reports of player dissent with his squad, insisting: “I kept it absolutely calm because I know about my relationship with my players.”

Reports emerged ahead of the Premier League clash with Leeds United last week that several of Hasenhuttl’s players had lost faith in the Austrian’s management.

It claimed many were surprised he was not sacked over the summer, and claimed even new coaches were not convinced by his methods.

Hasenhuttl flat-out denied the validity of these claims, and has further revealed he did not even feel the need to discuss them with his players – whom he trusts.

Asked if he did speak about the reports with his Saints group, ahead of the trip to Leicester City, he said: “This week - not. It didn't make last week easier to be honest.

“We kept it very calm internal because there was no reason to speak with my players about it. I kept it absolutely calm because I know about my relationship with my players.”

Hasenhuttl continued: “The right answer to give is every time on the weekend.

“We have shown that we are a group that fights together and is willing to compete in this wonderful, fantastic league. In this fantastic club we are doing everything to be competitive.”
