Nigel Pearson was left ruing missed chances after his side slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Cardiff.

Paul Parry's sixth-minute strike was the difference between the sides but it didn't quite tell the whole story.

Though Saints rarely played that well they did create several openings but were again unable to take any of them and left Wales deep in relegation trouble after other results went against them.

He said: "The most disappointing thing is that we've not taken our chances.

"We've created some decent opportunities but it's another game we've not scored in and it's not because we've not created them but because we've not taken them.

"It puts us under increasing pressure because of results elsewhere.

"We have a week to wait before we play again and it may be a very uncomfortable week but with five games left we've got to make sure we do enough ourselves and that's the top and bottom of it."
