SAINTS will not publish their retained list until they have finalised their managerial situation.

The deadline for clubs to complete the retained list detailing those out of contract players offered new deals and those released was last Friday.

Saints met the deadline but unlike most other sides do not intend to make the names of those kept on public at this moment in time.

The reason is because of the managerial decisions to be made this week.

As reported in Saturday's Daily Echo, the club will this week meet with Nigel Pearson to discuss his future as Saints boss.

Rupert Lowe and Michael Wilde have been keen to look at Pearson's contract and meet with the man himself before making any decisions as to whether to continue with him in charge or look at other options.

Pearson is out of contract this summer and the return of Lowe and Wilde means everything at the club is being assessed as they look to shore up the finances at St Mary's whilst still keeping the club competitive.

The justification for not making the list public is that Pearson, or whoever who may take over as manager, should have their full say on who they want to keep.
