SAINTS put in a performance that could have beaten Everton. But they did not. And they find themselves reeling after a third successive defeat.

Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s post-match messages were one of satisfaction at the chances created and performance shown.

His only gripe was the lack of clinical finishing or decisiveness in the final pass. Saints are left with seven points from their opening eight matches.

Sport Republic were in attendance, knowing they had changed their first-team coaching setup and brought in nine first-team players this summer.

Some made the suggestion this puts the pressure on Hasenhuttl in order to ensure – with him being largely the remaining factor – last season’s slump did not continue.

It is fair to say it has when you look at the results especially. When you look at performances, Wolves and Aston Villa were bad but perhaps not Everton.

Regardless, Saints supporters have been giving their view of the boss. Here’s what they had to say.

RiseBriton: I'm in the 'Ralph Out' camp but I was thinking today that he might as well be given until Christmas to make these players gel into a team. So many new players, many with promise, that a new manager now will set them back a bit anyway.

JanisB: "At least we showed a bit of fight but with City looming and a third game against mediocre opposition with zero points it is not looking good. No point in saying sack the Manager because that is clearly not going to happen."

malcher: "No more excuses. Simply not good enough. As at Villa we have to attack to get anything! Home against a poor outfit but first half no shots on target and no corners. Sorry but times up Ralph. Thank you and goodbye."

Dave Brown: "Does anyone on the site think the coaching team are earning their corn. We have employed this team and the same mistakes are being made. No firepower up front defence cannot hold their positions as the opposition work out our weaknesses and then play on them. It is going to be a long disappointing season I feel."
