JIMMY-JAY Morgan continued his fine scoring form with a hat-trick versus Birmingham City to make it two wins from two in the Premier League Cup.

The 16-year-old netted twice last time out in the competition to beat group favourites Everton 2-1, and scored two versus Sunderland in Premier League 2.

Dave Horseman’s side will fancy their chances of cup progression after the 4-0 win over the Midlands side, which also saw Kamari Doyle plant a free-kick.

Dominic Ballard captained the team and Thierry Small returned to the lineup following the termination of his loan at League One Port Vale.

Morgan tapped home the opener inside 15 minutes after Jack Turner’s powerful shot was spilled, finishing a ball from Lewis Payne for two just before half-time.

Payne was then fouled 10 minutes after the interval and Doyle, who signed his first professional deal at Saints this summer, netted from 25 yards.

Morgan completed his treble in the latter stages, again capitalising on a defensive error to slot home from inside the area.

Saints will face Birmingham again away from home, as well as two matches with Colchester City and a home leg versus Everton to decide Group F.
