When the full time whistle went at Anfield to signal the end of Saints' pre-World Cup Premier League campaign, everyone involved with the club could be forgiven for uttering a collective sigh of relief.

It's been an ugly season so far and a break was certainly needed. With only Mohammed Salisu and Armel Bella-Kotchap present in Qatar, the league hiatus gives new manager Nathan Jones real time to work with his squad.

Meanwhile, the nearly six weeks with no domestic football, should give Saints the chance to recover some of their injured contributors. Kyle Walker-Peters suffered a hamstring injury almost a month prior to the pause and while it was deemed a relatively concern, he should be back when Saints return to league action on Boxing Day.

Juan Larios also struggled with muscular problems prior to the break while Romeo Lavia only recently returned from a serious hamstring injury of his own.

But perhaps even more importantly, the break gives Saints a month without football in which to hopefully get Tino Livramento far closer to his long-awaited comeback.

Out since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) at Brighton last season, Livramento has been earmarked for a potential return in early 2023.

Whether that proves to be a reality will depend on how successful the full-back's recovery goes, but either way, it's hugely promising for Saints to have Livramento anywhere close to his return.

So what have Saints missed since losing Livramento? And more importantly, what could he provide upon his return?

All that and more is discussed at the link below:
