SAINTS youngster Dom Ballard has set out his ambition to win the FA Youth Cup, insisting: “I think we’re one of the strongest sides.”

The 17-year-old forward has become a B team star alongside Jimmy-Jay Morgan, Kamari Doyle and more, but is set to return to the under-18s team for the tournament.

The FA Youth Cup is the premier cup competition in England for the age group, but Saints were eliminated at an early stage last season despite later winning the Under-18 Premier League South.

Saints will travel to Coventry City tomorrow with their top youngsters for their opening match, with the remaining B team in action tonight in the Premier League Cup at St Mary’s.

"We're really looking forward to it, the lads are well prepared and we'll be going for it,” Ballard told club media, looking ahead to the match.

"All the teams want to win it and put out their strongest sides (in the FA Youth Cup) so it's good to see where you are in England, and I think we're one of the strongest sides.

"Everyone just wants to get out there now and show what we can do after last year. We’ll push to win it like always.”
