SAINTS and Brentford reportedly share an interest in Newcastle United winger Ryan Fraser, who could leave the club in January.

The 28-year-old has played only eight times in the Premier League this campaign and just three of those have been starts.

That is despite former AFC Bournemouth coach Eddie Howe linking back up with Fraser when he became Newcastle boss last season.

Fraser has 173 top-flight appearances to his name, with 18 goals – but 16 of those came during his spell with the Cherries.

The Telegraph report that the Magpies could let Fraser go in January in order to be able to add more to their own playing squad and push a European charge.

They detail interest from both Saints and Brentford, who are both looking to continue consolidating their status as a Premier League team.

The report describes how Fraser has indicated his frustration at his playing time, and suggest he has lost the appetite to compete with Allan Saint-Maximin and more.

Saints are looking to add goals to their team – despite a leaky defence, they have a clear progression path with their young defenders.

Nathan Jones has replaced former manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, but under the Austrian – and in Jones’s first match – they have scored just 13 in 15.
