SAINTS are reportedly one of four Premier League clubs interested in signing Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson.

The 21-year-old is a full Senegal international and teammate of Sadio Mane, but only made his debut as a cameo substitute at the World Cup last month.

Jackson has scored just twice in 13 La Liga matches this season for the Yellow Submarine, having featured mostly for their B team last campaign.

The six-foot two-inch tall striker featured for Villarreal at St Mary’s during their pre-season victory this summer and has also netted in their Europa Conference League run.

Daily Echo:

Saints are actively pursuing reinforcements across the field this January but they should come most notably in attack, holding interest also in FC Lorient’s Terem Moffi.

Following the emergence of that interest this week, Sky Sports now report that Saints are interested in Villarreal’s Jackson but could face competition.

They detail three other unnamed clubs also want the forward, who was born in The Gambia in 2001.

Saints currently sit bottom of the Premier League and could face a tough task attracting already proven aces to their squad, with the threat of relegation looming.

Jackson is under contract until 2026, though, and Sky Sports say it could take a fee in excess of £20million to prise him from the Spanish outfit.
