NATHAN Jones admitted uncertainty over Kyle Walker-Peters’s involvement at Brentford after a precautionary substitute this week.

The defender was taken off after 36 minutes in the EFL Cup semi-final at Newcastle United on Tuesday, with Samuel Edozie on in his place.

It was a minor hamstring concern for England international Walker-Peters, but he has resumed training since ahead of their coach journey to the capital this afternoon.

But Jones, who has been buoyed by the full-back addition of James Bree in the January transfer window, admitted Walker-Peters might not be ready to start immediately.

“It was a precaution that we brought him off, he’s played a lot of games. Whether we start him tomorrow is another thing,” the Welshman said.

Jones confirmed that he has a full squad of players to choose from, with the exception of Stuart Armstrong and Juan Larios – who are “getting closer”.

Tino Livramento is also a long-term absentee, with no return date set for the youngster after a minor setback from his ACL recovery.

“We want to go as strong as we can," Jones said. "We’ve changed in terms of getting the freshest, most physical side on the pitch that we can be in the games now it’s Saturday to Saturday so we have to go as strong as we possibly can.

“In terms of not looking after (a player), in terms of not looking at the next game or anything now. It’s solely about picking the best team and picking the team to try and get a result.”
