SAINTS boss Nathan Jones refused to be drawn into discussions about his immediate future after his side were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Brentford.

As the hosts cruised past Saints in West London, the travelling fans made their feelings clear, subjecting Jones to chants of ‘you don’t know what you’re doing,’ and ‘get out of our club.’

The former Luton boss has overseen just seven Premier League games thus far but Saints have lost six of those while failing to score in three of their last four league matches.

Saturday’s results leave Saints bottom of the Premier League table, now three points adrift of Leeds United in 17th and Jesse Marsch’s side still have two games in hand.

Brought in to revitalise Saints’ struggling season following the sacking of Ralph Hasenhuttl, Jones is yet to make much of a concrete impact on his side’s survival hopes, leading to sections of his fanbase calling for him to go.

Asked whether Sport Republic would give him the benefit of time as he works to turn around Saints’ horrific form, Jones responded: “I don't know, that's not a question for me.

“But I hope so. Because I said, I look at that team and I don't see myself in that team but that's going to change.”

Speaking after the humbling defeat at the Brentford Community Stadium, Jones admitted that he had ‘compromised’ his own methods in recent months but that he will do so no longer.

“I've compromised in terms of certain principles because of, one, personnel but two, the way that people want to play and so on and I've compromised because of fans and so on, compromised on a few little things but no more.

“But no more, I’ve been very successful playing a really fluent style and tried to implement that at Stoke but couldn’t because of certain things. I came back to Luton and was successful playing an aggressive, front-footed side.

“I’ve gone away from that, maybe because it’s the Premier League, maybe because of certain players and internationals, I’ve had to compromise on certain things but no more.”

Saints now have a full week to work and prepare for next weekend's clash with Wolves at St Mary's.
