Join Daily Echo Saints reporter Benjy Nurick as he looks back at Southampton's dismal defeat away at Brentford on Saturday.

It proved another rough afternoon in the building collection under Nathan Jones as Saints were comfortably swept aside by Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Just as with the same fixture last season, Saints barely laid a glove on their London opposition as Brentford cruised to three points.

After weathering an early storm of Brentford pressure, it appeared that Saints might get to half-time with the score level at 0-0. That was until disaster struck with five minutes to go as Ben Mee headed the hosts in front before Bryan Mbeumo doubled the advantage moments later.

With the game likely decided, Saints put in an improved second half display but still failed to touch the scoreline before Mathias Jensen added a third with ten minutes to go to repeat last season's final result.

Speaking after the defeat, Jones caused ire amongst many with his post-match comments that seemed to abdicate responsibility for the situation Saints find themselves in.

Jones has now overseen seven Premier League games in which Saints have lost six while keeping zero clean sheets. They have also failed to score in three of their last four league matches as they remain bottom of the Premier League table.

With no sign of improvement - coupled with a spate of bizarre and controversial comments - is it already time to cut ties with Jones?
