SAINTS striker Che Adams is a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Chelsea, according to interim boss Ruben Selles.

With Nathan Jones sacked by Saints following last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves, it was expected that Jesse Marsch would take over the vacant role but talks with the American broke down earlier in the week.

It’s left First Team Lead Coach Ruben Selles in charge for this weekend’s trip to Stamford Bridge and speaking to the media on Friday afternoon, the 39-year-old shared the latest injury news of his squad with Adams the only fresh worry.

“We have the injury of Juan Larios and then of Tino Livramento," the Spaniard said. "These are long term injuries. A couple of boys that didn’t train at the beginning of the week but have trained at the end.

“Ché Adams is a doubt for tomorrow but that’s it. We have a large squad to pick from and we will be ready to go with everything."

Saints approach Saturday’s clash with Chelsea bottom of the Premier League table, four points adrift of safety.

Under Jones, Saints lost seven of their eight Premier League games and have now lost nine of their last ten.

Selles and his side can take some confidence though from August's 2-1 victory against Chelsea at St Mary's - even if the temporary boss admitted that was a very different Blues side under then-manager Thomas Tuchel.
