SAINTS coffers have benefitted from the January transfer of former defender Wesley Hoedt from Anderlecht to Championship Watford.
The St Mary’s side have received a sell-on fee following the Dutchman’s move to the Belgian league from Saints nearly two years ago, the Daily Echo understands.
A sell-on was negotiated and Saints are understood to have received a large portion of the fee paid by the Hornets to acquire the 28 year old on deadline day.
The Daily Echo notes that a large percentage of an already small fee does not amount to a huge figure for the club, but will be a welcome boost.
Reports in Belgium suggest Saints could have received up to £1million, with Hoedt moving to Watford for around £1.8million.
Hoedt made 45 appearances for Saints between 2017-19 before leaving on loan ahead of a permanent exit in July 2021.
Hoedt has played every minute of the last four matches for playoff-chasing Watford and is set to be a starter for the rest of the campaign.
