SAINTS are one of three teams reportedly ‘keen on’ young Fulham goalkeeper George Wickens, who is in the final year of his contract.

The Petersfield-born shot-stopper has never played for the senior team at Craven Cottage but is a third choice to manager Marco Silva.

Wickens spent last season on loan National League Wealdstone, making 40 league appearances before returning to Fulham and featuring heavily in their Premier League 2 campaign.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, the homegrown Fulham academy man is said to be considering his next career step.

Premier League Nottingham Forest, Championship Luton Town and Saints are said to be admirers of the youngster.

Forest are looking to purchase Manchester United’s Dean Henderson on a permanent basis but would want greater cover in depth too.

Saints signed Gavin Bazunu, 21, from Manchester City on a long-term contract to be the first-choice goalkeeper just last summer.

The Republic of Ireland international has been displaced by the experienced Alex McCarthy under manager Ruben Selles though, despite McCarthy now having just 12 months left on his deal.

Veteran and third-choice Willy Caballero signed a one-year extension last summer and could depart the club next month – or move into a coaching role.

The club also have on-loan Mat Lis, who spent the season with French side Troyes, and impressive B team goalkeeper Ollie Wright on the books.
