SAINTS are reportedly looking at a deal for Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury, with the Foxes making central midfield additions of their own.
The 25 year old played regularly in the Championship on loan at Watford last season with his King Power Stadium deal set to expire this summer.
However, Leicester exercised an option to extend that but he could still be allowed to leave if their new manager, Enzo Maresca, sanctions an exit.
Leicester are expected to sign midfielder Harry Winks from Spurs for over £10million in the coming days, following talisman James Maddison’s £40million move the other way.
The Telegraph report that Saints, now managed by former Swansea City man Russell Martin, are looking at a deal for Choudhury.
The former England under-21 international, who is also eligible for Bangladesh, now has 12 months left on his deal at Leicester.
Having made 84 appearances for the Foxes, including features in the Europa League and Europa Conference League, he played 36 times in the league for Watford last campaign.
Saints will be looking for midfield reinforcements if the likes of James Ward-Prowse and Romeo Lavia return to the Premier League with moves of their own this summer.
They have already been linked to Swansea captain Matt Grimes, while Sport Republic will make funds available to director of football Jason Wilcox and head of recruitment Darren Mowbray.
