FORMER Saint Ibrahima Diallo has issued a farewell statement to supporters following his exit from the club.

The 24 year old has joined Qatari Stars League side Al-Duhail Sports Club on a permanent transfer.

Diallo only had one year left on his contract and wasn’t considered to be a part of Russell Martin’s plans this season.

Taking to Instagram, the Frenchman wrote: “After three rewarding years, my journey in Southampton ends here.

“It was an extraordinary experience. I met a lot of nice people and lived unforgettable moments.

"First of all, I thank Allah for allowing me to experience this. Then, I thank my teammates, technical staff, medical staff and all club employees.

“Without forgetting the supporters who have always supported us in good and bad times.

"I wish Southampton a very good season, hoping that the club will return to the Premier League quickly. Ibrahima Diallo."

Diallo joined Southampton in 2020 from French club Brest, signing a four-year contract.

He made 81 appearances for the St Mary’s side during his three-year spell on the south coast.

Diallo only managed to make 11 league appearances last season - his lowest total since joining the club.

The former France U21 international became the second senior player to leave Southampton on a transfer this summer, following Mislav Orsic out of the door.

Martin is still working with a bloated squad during pre-season, with Southampton currently having 29 senior players on the books.

Lyanco is expected to be the next player to depart having touched down in Istanbul to complete his move to Super Lig side Besiktas.

Willy Caballero, Theo Walcott and Moi Elyounoussi have also departed following the expiry of their contracts while goalkeeper Mateusz Lis has joined sister club Goztepe on loan.

The length of his contract in Qatar is yet to be officially confirmed.
