SAINTS FC Women have announced the signing of Jamaican international Atlanta Primus from London City Lionesses.

The 26 year old forward joins Southampton FC on her return from the FIFA Women’s World Cup, where she helped Jamaica reach the knock out stages for the first time in their history.

Primus represented Chelsea before heading to California State University, Fullerton in the United States in 2016, where she made 72 appearances, scored 25 goals and became the all-time programme assist leader, MVP and team captain over four seasons.

Returning to the UK, Primus joined fellow Barclays Women’s Championship side London City Lionesses in September 2020, before going on to make 58 appearances for the club and netting 15 times.

Before switching her national team allegiance to the Reggae Girlz, Primus also represented England in their youth pathway at Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 levels.

Primus scored eight goals and provided five assists as London City Lionesses finished third in the Women's Championship last season.

On making her move to the south coast official, Primus commented: “I’m super excited to be here! I’m ready to get going and excited for the season to start.

"From the staff to the players, I think there’s something special here and I wanted to be a part of that.”

Bolstering her side with further international experience, Spacey-Cale remarked: “I’m delighted to get Atlanta into our squad.

"She brings a strong attacking threat along with a clever football mind. Fresh from the World Cup those experiences have added to her development into a top player.”
