GOALKEEPER Jack Bycroft has joined Aldershot Town on a one-month loan from Saints.

The 21 year old joins the Vanarama National League after their regular shot-stopper Jordi van Stappershoef was sent off against Eastleigh, leaving the Shots without a goalkeeper.

Bycroft enjoyed a successful loan one division below with Taunton Town in the 2022-23 campaign, where he earned a place in the National League South Team of the Season.

The under-21 goalkeeper has also spent time on loan at Weymouth and Dorchester and has represented England at under-19 level.

Speaking to Aldershot's club media, their head of recruitment Jamie Hedges said: “Once it was apparent that Jordi was to be banned, we as staff created a shortlist.

"Jack was top of that list and so we are pleased to get our top target.”

“Jack was one we looked at in the summer, he is off the back of a really good season in the level below and is desperate to play and kick on even further.”

Aldershot goalkeeping coach David Smalley added: “We’re really pleased to have Jack on board.

"He comes with experience of the National League and was selected for the National League South Team of the Year last season.”

“I want to thank Southampton for their help in bringing Jack in to cover for Jordi while he serves his suspension.

"I really look forward to working with him and helping him with his progression in his career whilst he’s with us.”
