SAINTS striker Che Adams could still remain at the club despite reports linking him to a loan move to Wolves.

The Daily Echo understands Wolves has so far been the only realistic option for a move away from the club for Adams.

A loan would have included a £15million obligation to buy if certain matches were played with the potential for add-ons.

The club would protect the asset, get 12 months’ wages covered and then either sell him to Wolves for a good fee or have an improved length on the player’s deal when he returns.

We are told the feeling is that it was not ever seriously likely to happen and sources do not think it ever got off the ground.

As reported first by The Athletic, Adams is more likely to stay at Southampton but there are no guarantees on deadline day.

Manager Russell Martin had said Adams was being pulled ‘pillar to post’ over his future, while the Daily Echo reported he had been offered a new deal at Saints this summer.
