EASTLEIGH bounced back from their 6-0 defeat against Gateshead to secure a 2-1 victory over fellow National League strugglers AFC Fylde on Saturday.

Former Wales international Jake Taylor gave Eastleigh the lead, tapping the ball home after 17 minutes.

Things went from bad to worse for Fylde, who have now earned just one point in their last six matches, when Alex Whitmore was shown a red card for an off-the-ball incident.

The Spitfires made the most of their man advantage as Paul McCallum doubled their lead just after half time.

Scott Quigley gained entry into the box before his initial shot was blocked straight into McCallum's path. The 30 year old made no mistake and poked home his third goal of the season.

An own-goal by Trent Rendall gave the hosts hope with 13 minutes of regular time remaining, but it was too little too late for the home side.

Joe McDonnell made a good save in injury time to deny Danny Whitehead the opportunity to salvage an unlikely point for the home side.
