FORMER Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has admitted he does not see himself taking a new job in football “at the moment”.

The Austrian boss was sacked just by St Mary’s bosses 11 months ago after nearly four years at the helm, and replaced by Nathan Jones.

Hasenhuttl, 56, had previously managed RB Leipzig to Champions League qualification and has been linked with several Premier League jobs since.

However, the former national team striker has now spoken to Sky explaining why he has still not taken a new job.

“It’s true that after the Premier League, there aren’t that many leagues that are interesting for you, but that doesn’t mean you don’t want to learn a new language,” he said, relayed by Laola1.

Daily Echo:

“Football has given you a lot and you yourself have tried to give a lot to football, especially in terms of energy.

“When the desire is back, I’m sure that there will be another task that you can imagine. I don’t see that at the moment.”

Hasenhuttl was among Man City’s Pep Guardiola and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp as one of the Premier League’s longest-serving managers at the time of his departure.

The Austrian’s tenure was terminated after picking up just 12 points from 14 league games in Sport Republic’s first full season after acquiring the club.

Hasenhuttl had previously indicated his desire to retire from management at the end of the 2024 season, when his Saints contract had been due to expire.
