RYAN Fraser scored his first goal for Saints in the very last seconds of added time to see the visitors win 2-1 at Hull City.

Will Smallbone had opened the scoring after 20 minutes but Liam Delap levelled for the side who were yet to be beaten at MKM Stadium this season.

Both sides had chances to win it but it was former Scotland international Fraser scoring a volley from the bench in the fifth minute of five added on.

Saints are unbeaten in four and have won three of those, following a four-match losing run that ramped up pressure on the St Mary’s outfit.

Saints fans faced chaos at London King’s Cross Station as they attempted to travel up to Hull on Saturday morning, due to the impact of Storm Babet.

While some were able enough to get through the crowd and onto replacement trains, others were less fortunate – the total attendance was recorded at 21, 524.

Martin and Saints, who travelled to Humberside the day before, were able to find consistency in their team despite the international duty of many of their team.

The manager made only one change with Charly Alcaraz replacing Che Adams, for the same team that started wins over Stoke City and Leeds United prior to Rotherham.

Hull City were boosted by the return of star man Ozan Tufan but he was only fit enough to make the bench, along with former Brighton man Aaron Connolly.

The pair are the top scorers at the Tigers this season, under Liam Rosenior, but it was former Saints target Liam Delap who could have opened the scoring here.

An early Taylor Harwood-Bellis slip let him in but Gavin Bazunu saved, just minutes after Will Smallbone had a deflected strike narrowly tipped over the bar.

Walker-Peters exhibited some tight dribbling as he beat his man for Smallbone’s opener, laying off with control for the Irishman to finish first time with his left foot after 20 minutes.

Alcaraz got the travelling crowd off their seats with a gritty header clear from a corner and sprint into the next tackle on the edge of the box.

The joy was short-lived, though, as Man City loanee Delap finished the scramble of a ball in from Ryan Manning’s side merely five minutes following Southampton’s opener.

Manning picked up a fifth yellow card of the season after losing possession in his own third and that meant he would serve a one-match suspension, in a further blow to Saints.

Hull City kept 60 per cent of the ball across the first half and had the better of the chances, but it was Kamaldeen whose ball went close to Alcaraz in the box on the stroke of half-time.

Walker-Peters and Harwood-Bellis had to make goalline interventions the other side of the restart to prevent the home side taking the lead.

Ryan Allsop denied Alcaraz with a stunning low save as the visitors turned the momentum slightly in their favour going into the final 20 minutes.

Martin’s first two changes were to introduce Adams and Sam Edozie, in place of Alcaraz and Kamaldeen, before S Armstrong fired over inside the area.

Smallbone’s final touch of the match produced another strong save from Allsop, diving to a good height on his left after the midfielder found a yard of space with just minutes left.

Saints should have had a penalty but that did not matter when Fraser arrived in the final minute of added time to thump his team a goal ahead in front of the away corner.
