HULL City manager Liam Rosenior labelled Russell Martin "a very good coach" after Saints secured a late 2-1 win on Saturday.

Substitute Ryan Fraser volleyed home from Flynn Downes' cross in the 95th minute to earn a dramatic win in East Yorkshire.

The Southampton players ran straight across to their travelling supporters, who had to battle with chaos at King's Cross station and Storm Babet to make the journey to Hull, to celebrate.

Asked if he thought Southampton's celebrations were over the top, Rosenior responded: "They should do, they've won the game in the last minute.

"I would do the same. Fair play, it means a lot when you win games. We love this game because we want to win.

"Fair play to Russell, I think he is a very good coach. He has got very good players and credit to them for scoring in the last minute.

"We have to take that pain and swallow it to make sure that it doesn't happen again."

The result saw the Tigers lose their unbeaten home record, having drawn their last four games at the MKM Stadium.

Hull looked the most likely to score a second early in the second half as they were twice prevented from shooting by some last-ditch defending.

But Saints were able to ride the rough patch in the game and called on their fitness to find the all-important goal in injury time.

"When two teams play the way that we do, the energy levels you need to stop each other are so high," Rosenior continued.

"I have to praise Jean Michaël Seri, who got back (from international duty) yesterday. I had to keep him on for 90 minutes because he gave us so much energy.

"It became a game of who is going to finish their chances. Sometimes you end up on the right side of it, sometimes you leave yourself open."
