SAINTS defender Jan Bednarek is set to miss the upcoming visit of West Bromwich Albion through suspension.

The Polish international was yellow carded by referee James Linington for an added-time foul on Zian Flemming during Saturday's 1-0 win at Millwall.

The booking was the fifth accumulated by Bednarek, 27, already in the Championship this season, triggering an automatic one-match ban.

Bednarek was also booked in fixtures against Norwich City, Leeds United, Rotherham and at full-time of the 2-2 draw with Preston North End.

After taking on West Brom on Saturday, November 11, Saints enter the international break before Bednarek returns to face Huddersfield on Saturday, November 25.

In line to replace Bednarek up next are Shea Charles, 20, and Mason Holgate, 27. Both summer signings have been used in centre-back as well as other roles.

Holgate has made three starts this campaign, shipping nine goals, with five of those coming on his debut in the 5-0 defeat at Sunderland.

Charles, meanwhile, who celebrated his birthday this weekend, has made 13 appearances in the first 15 games of the season, including six starts.

Captain Jack Stephens is also on his way back from injury and could be available to feature but is unlikely having not played any part since August.

Manager Russell Martin is likely to issue an update on the skipper ahead of the match, with striker Ross Stewart also set to make his injury return.
