THE opening day of Hampshire's County Championship season has been abandoned due to a wet outfield at the Seat Unique Riverside.
Hampshire were due to begin their campaign against Durham on Friday but after pitch inspections at 10:30am and 12:30pm, play was called off for the day.
Following the second inspection, the umpires decided areas of the field were still too damp, following weeks of rain and heavy overnight storms.

We will be back to try again tomorrow 🙏 pic.twitter.com/RTFqgixZAa
The Utilita Bowl side will come back again tomorrow where they will hope to get their season underway weather permitting.
It's not just Hampshire and Durham who have been affected, with last season's division one champions Surrey also having their first day abandoned against Lancashire.
