GOALSCORER Che Adams dubbed Southampton's 3-0 win over Preston on Tuesday evening as "total dominance."

Adams scored twice in the opening 30 minutes before Stuart Armstrong added further breathing room with a brilliant curled effort.

The win has drawn Saints closer to the automatic promotion spots. They now sit four points behind second-place Leicester, who they face next week.

Reflecting on the win, Adams told Sky Sports: “It was total dominance from the first minute. We knew how important this game was and we got the job done in the end.

“We just need to keep going and win as many games as possible. We started well tonight and, hopefully, we can keep it up.

“The gaffer is really clear in how he wants us to play and you can see the connection on the pitch between all the players, especially Arma, who is firing on all cylinders."

Adams' first goal was set up by Adam Armstrong's low cross, taking the Geordie forward up to 13 assists for the season.

“We have a massive four games coming up and hopefully we will end up being promoted," Armstrong added.

“The way the gaffer sets us up is brave and we have to stay brave. We are going to stick to that.

“We had a lot of chances in the first half and could have been four or five up but we have the three points and a massive win."
