SAINTS will hope to summon the spirit of 2010 when they face Leeds United in the Championship playoff final this Sunday.

Fourteen years have passed since Southampton's last triumph at Wembley Stadium - their Football League Trophy victory in 2009-10 being the last.

Alan Pardew's men were comfortable 4-1 winners against Carlisle United on that afternoon, delighting the tens of thousands of supporters in red and white.

Over a decade on from that triumphant trip to the capital, we have taken a look at where the players involved on that day are now...

Kelvin Davis - Eastleigh manager.

Club legend Kelvin Davis was between the sticks at Wembley and lost his clean sheet late on when Gary Madine headed in a consolation goal.

The 47 year old now works as National League outfit Eastleigh's manager, working alongside fellow former Saint Danny Butterfield.

Dan Harding -  Coach

The 40 year old former defender retired from football in 2017 after a stint at Whithawk, where he briefly coached as caretaker manager.

He now works as head coach for Swerve Soccer, who provide national and international youth football programmes across the South East of England.

Jose Fonte - Braga.

Portuguese defender Jose Fonte was close to making a return to Saints this past summer but has explained the deal didn't materialise due to "timings."

Instead, he accepted a move to Braga, who offered him Champions League football. In December, he became the eighth oldest outfield player to play in the competition when he faced Napoli aged 39 years and 11 months.

Radhi Jaïdi - Manager.

Tunisian international Radhi Jaïdi partnered Fonte in defence and would later end his career at Southampton in 2012.

After hanging up his boots, Jaïdi turned to coaching and was appointed Southampton's under-23 manager in 2017, leaving in 2019.

His most recent managerial role was back in his home country at Espérance de Tunis. He was sacked in June of 2022.

Joseph Mills - head of commercial.

Starting at left-back was academy product Joseph Mills. After retiring in 2022, Mills has stepped into the world of business and currently works as head of commercial at the CFO Centre.

In January 2024, he was inducted into former club Forest Green Rovers' Ever Green Club, their version of a Hall of Fame.

Michail Antonio - West Ham.

Loanee Michail Antonio scored Southampton's fourth goal of the afternoon when he controlled the ball on the edge of the box before firing into the bottom corner.

The versatile Jamaican international now predominantly plays as a centre-forward, a position he has nailed at West Ham over previous seasons.

He scored six goals in the Premier League last season, helping West Ham finish ninth, having won the Europa Conference League in the previous campaign.

Paul Wotton - Torquay manager.

The first of two central midfielders was Paul Wotton, who made 71 appearances for Saints across League One, the Championship and cup competitions.

The Plymouth-born former player has recently been appointed Torquay manager, where he will work under Neil Warnock.

Dean Hammond - Worthing coach.

Skipper that afternoon was Dean Hammond, who would also captain Saints as they won promotion to the Premier League later down the line.

He remains connected to the club and has been a regular commentator for Saints Play this season.

Hammond has also started his coaching journey, joining National League South side Worthing's coaching staff.

Adam Lallana - Set for free agency.

Adam Lallana has announced that he will leave Brighton at the end of his contract, which expires this summer.

In his statement, the 36 year old explained how he will make a decision about the next stage of his career after having time to reflect on the past campaign.

In addition to playing for Roberto De Zerbi's side this past season, Lallana has also started to gain experience as a youth team coach.

Rickie Lamber - Wigan youth development coach.

The ever-clinical Rickie Lambert opened the scoring at Wembley when he thrashed a penalty into the top corner.

It was one of 37 goals he scored that season. The striker would remain at Saints, helping them gain promotion to the Premier League in later years.

He would also represent England at international level, scoring with his first touch in a win over Scotland.

Since retiring, Lambert has taken his first steps in coaching, joining Wigan Athletic as a youth development coach in 2023.

Papa Waigo - Retired.

Another who got on the scoresheet that day was loanee Papa Waig. After returning to parent club Fiorentina, the Senegalese international became somewhat of a footballing nomad.

He went on further loans in Italy before playing in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. He admitted he should have stayed as Saints in an interview after retirement.

Substitutes

Bartosz Białkowski - Set for free agency.

Polish goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski was named among the substitutes. Still playing to this day, the 36 year old will depart Championship outfit Millwall this summer.

Chris Perry - Milwall coach and commentator.

Keeping with the Millwall theme, Chris Perry currently works for the Lions as their under-18s assistant coach while also doing work as a co-commentator.

Lloyd James - Taunton Town.

Former Wales youth international Lloyd James was an unused substitute at Wembley. The now 36 year old was a key player for Vanarama National League South side Taunton Town last season, playing 43 games, as they finished 22nd.

Simon Gillett - Chelsea Scout.

Academy graduate Simon Gillett was introduced with just under 15 regular minutes to be played in the final. Since returning, Gillett has worked in scouting. He currently works for Chelsea as a senior area scout

David Connolly - Pundit.

The fifth and final substitute was experienced Irish international David Connolly, who played the final five minutes. Now the 46 year old works as a pundit for multiple outlets.
