THE 2024 UEFA European Championship is set to get underway in Germany this week.

In total, 12 past and present Southampton players will pull on their national team's shirt in a bid to become European champions.

A former Saints boss, Ronald Koeman, will also be in the dugout.

Here is a look at all the Southampton ties at this summer's tournament...

GROUP A

Former Southampton resident Jamal Musiala has been named in the Germany squad and is expected to be one of his country's most important players this summer.

The Bayern Munich star spent a brief time in Saints youth system, having moved to the UK from Germany, before joining Chelsea.

Scotland have three Saints links. Stuart Armstrong and Che Adams are in Steve Clarke's squad. So too is former Southampton keeper Angus Gunn.

GROUP B

Group B, which contains Spain, Croatia, Italy and Albania, will hold less interest for those watching from a Saints perspective.

Former loanee Armando Broja is the sole former Saints player involved in the group. Duje Caleta-Car and Mislav Orsic failed to make Croatia's squad.

GROUP C

It's only Slovenia from Group C who do not have a former Southampton star in their squad.

Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand has called upon defender Jannik Vestergaard and former Saints skipper Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw is the sole Southampton academy graduate named in England's squad.

Veteran attacker Dusan Tadic, 35, will captain Serbia, whom he has now represented over 100 times.

GROUP D

Former Southampton manager Koeman is tasked with guiding his country through perhaps the trickiest group at this summer's tournament.

He will also be able to call upon star defender Virgil van Dijk, who spent two and a half seasons on the South Coast.

Jan Bednarek has been named in Poland's squad after playing a key role under Russell Martin this year.

He has thanked his international manager Michał Probierz for keeping faith in him despite receiving criticism from some Poland supporters.

Reigning Champions France's squad contains no Saints players, past or present. However, their first opponent Austria have called up former loanee Kevin Danso.

GROUP E AND F

The final two groups at EURO 2024 hold no Southampton ties.

Romeo Lavia's injury problems have seen him miss out on a call-up to Belgium's squad, while Toby Alderweireld announced his international retirement in March 2023.
