SHOLING FC have announced that captain Byron Mason and Daniel Mason have re-signed for the club ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The Boatmen have made their first moves ahead of the new Southern League Premier South campaign as they look to build on last season's 15th-placed finish.

Byron, who has played over 700 times for the club, insisted he "can't wait" to continue his Sholing career in the upcoming campaign.

He said: "I'm just glad I've got another year under my belt and here we go again. I can't wait to get started.

"We have got some real good, good players coming in. It's going to strengthen the squad massively. People who have played this level and at levels above.

"Keeping hold of some of the old players (is important) as well because the core of the team is key. The players that have been around for years have proved they can still play in this league."

His brother Daniel echoed those thoughts and claimed there is a "buzz" around the club at the moment.

The forward added: "The stuff that has been going on recently at the club and the way it's going, I'm so happy to still be a part of it.

"I've been here for a very long time now and I probably think this is the best time for me. I'm feeling good, this is probably the best I've felt in a long time.

"The buzz around the club is very good and with some of the calibre of players around now, hopefully, we can push on in the league and have a lot on it."

He continued: "I have targets, I want to continue to score goals in this league, prove that I play at this level, and show that I can play a level above.

"(I want to) Just have a really good season, injury-free, which I am now, and just enjoy it with the new lads, enjoy it with the boys who are still here and hopefully see where we end up."
