Man-of-the-match Jimmy Adams helped Hampshire back to the top of the Natwest Pro40 first division before insisting: "We can win the title."

Adams hit a career-best 90 as the Hawks totalled a record-breaking 298-8, after winning the toss, against the Durham Dynamoes' impressive seam attack.

Only rain threatened to prevent a fourth successive Hampshire win before a 62-run victory was secured following the Duckworth /Lewis calculations.

Now Hampshire will try and complete their one-day season with a fifth successive win against the Worcestershire Royals, the current Pro40 champions, on Saturday (12.45pm start).

Adams, pictured, said: "It was a great win and if we finish with another on Saturday we'll give ourselves a great chance.

"The first half of the season wasn't great but we've got a lot of momentum at the moment.

"We pulled a win out of nowhere against Durham in the Championship last week and hopefully we can finish on the up.

"I don't want to tempt fate too much but a lot of us are in form. Worcestershire will give us a good game but all we can do is focus on winning that one at the moment.

"We want to show everyone what we possibly should have done earlier in the year."

Adams laid the foundations for Hampshire's biggest-ever 40-over total before the win was completed after an hour-long rain break.
