SAINTS are reportedly ready to revive their interest in AFC Bournemouth defender Max Aarons.
Aarons was said to be close to a move to St Mary's last summer before moving to Bournemouth for Premier League football.
Saints and Leeds United, agreed a fee with Norwich City - only for Cherries to make a last-gasp move for the former England under-21 international in a £12m deal.
According to a new report by BBC Sport, Saints again want to sign Aarons after returning to the Premier League.
After winning the Championship playoffs by beating Leeds 1-0 at Wembley last month, boss Russell Martin wants to bolster his squad with the 24-year-old.
They add that Aarons is also being tracked by a number of other top-flight clubs.
He made over 200 appearances for Norwich, helping the Canaries win two Championship titles, and was in the academy when Martin was captain at Carrow Road.
The future of Saints star Kyle Walker-Peters remains unclear with just 12 months left on his deal at St Mary's.
Martin has hinted at being unable to keep all of his squad this summer, while Saints players started a 'one more year' chant aimed at the defender at last month's promotion party.
Ryan Fraser is also close to agreeing a permanent move back to Saints after enjoying his loan from Newcastle United last season.
The club also confirmed they remain in talks with out-of-contract striker Che Adams. The Scotland international has interest from several clubs.
