SAINTS have beaten opposition from other Premier League clubs to sign Norwich City academy starlet Oli Newman.
A deal for the 16 year old winger to join Southampton’s academy was concluded on Tuesday, with Newman set to start at Staplewood today.
Tricky attacker Newman has represented England and Wales at under-16 level, having made his Under-18 Premier League debut in the 2023/24 season.
The Daily Echo understands Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Brighton were among the clubs keen to take Newman this summer and Saints are pleased with their efforts to land him.
Really excited by U16/U17s forward Oli Newman. The versatile attacker has contributed with 11 + G/A since January 2024!👏

Newman is set to link up with Calum MacFarlane’s under-18s team ahead of their new season, which starts with hosting Fulham on Saturday, August 17.
In a new social media post addressing his exit from Carrow Road, Newman said: “The end of a chapter.
”I want to say thank you to everyone at Norwich City FC for helping me become the player I am today. Time to move on to new challenges.”
