SAINTS have launched a new bid for Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto, according to recent reports.
Yuri Alberto would add attacking depth to a Southampton forward line which failed to score in their first two Premier League fixtures.
The one-time Brazilian international primarily plays as a striker but has operated in wide areas on occasion.
The 23 year old had previously been a target for fellow Premier League side Wolves during the winter transfer window.
Yuri Alberto has scored four times and provided two assists in 18 Serie A appearances for a struggling Corinthians side so far this season.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Saints have sent a fresh proposal to the São Paulo-based club.
Russell Martin admitted Southampton "need help" in the attacking third following their 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest - but was vague about the profile of the player he desires.

Charly Alcaraz's impending exit to join Brazilian side Flamengo would provide Saints with funds to satisfy Martin's desire.
Reports in Brazil note that Southampton's first offer was an initial loan deal - worth €3million (£2.5million) - with an option to buy set at €18million (£15million).
The Daily Echo have reached out to sources to confirm Southampton's interest in the Brazilian forward, with more to follow.
Yuri Alberto has previous experience playing in Europe having spent one season at Russian side Zenit before returning to Brazil.
