Which players could still leave Southampton by deadline day?

After that, their squad will be locked in and we will know who faces the daunting task of trying to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Manager Ivan Juric wants to reduce the number of players he is working with while still adding more quality, meaning departures are essential.

Here are some of the players we think could still leave Saints ahead of next week's deadline...

Gavin Bazunu

The 22 year old is fit and theoretically available for selection again, although he was not registered for the Premier League initially this season.

Bazunu has featured - and impressed - for the under-21s this month and Juric has admitted a loan transfer would be ideal for the Irishman.

The shot-stopper will want to play regular minutes and could be back in Southampton's plans this summer so a Championship move feels ideal.

Armel Bella-Kotchap

Former German international Bella-Kotchap has been somewhat reintegrated under Juric but he is yet to make an appearance on the pitch.

The 23 year old has been named in four of the last five Premier League squads - he missed one in the middle, where Juric challenged him to do more.

Should Saints receive an offer that makes sense financially, all parties would be happy with a split but it has been tough going finding a buyer.

Kyle Walker-Peters

Turkish media were sent into a frenzy on Saturday afternoon as they reported Galatasaray's transfer interest in Walker-Peters, 27.

Juric has been categorical on his desire to keep hold of him but the former Spurs defender is out of contract in the summer and set to leave on a free.

Saints have reportedly knocked back bids of a measly few million pounds but if a serious offer was to come across the table it would be considered.

Charlie Taylor

Hull City reportedly remain in talks over a six-month loan deal for Taylor and that feels like the most logical destination at this stage of the window.

The 31 year old left-back signed on a free last summer to bring Premier League experience but he has not been fancied by either boss this campaign.

Taylor remains behind Ryan Manning and Welington in the pecking order and is a player Saints would like to offload to reduce the size of the squad.

Juan Larios

You have to feel for 21 year old Larios, who has not played men's football properly since he was a teenager as a result of rotten injury luck.

He made one 30-second appearance in the Carabao Cup this season but has otherwise been in the treatment room since November 2022.

The Spaniard continues to be linked with interest from Sevilla and although a move right now feels unlikely, he would probably be open to talks. 

Lesley Ugochukwu

Defensive midfielder Ugochukwu is on this list because the power to recall him rests in Chelsea's hands - but they have signalled no intent to do so.

Juric wants to keep the 20 year old Frenchman, who was out of favour under Russell Martin but has been largely impressive for him since he was appointed.

Southampton's decision to loan Shea Charles back to Sheffield Wednesday suggests they are fairly confident of keeping Ugochukwu this month.

Sam Amo-Ameyaw

Amo-Ameyaw, 18, spent the first half of the season classified as a first team player but appears to have been relegated under Juric.

The boss believes he has too many players and youth international Amo-Ameyaw is behind too many seniors for him to get meaningful game time here.

The winger wants to play football and a loan move could be explored late in the window to allow that - it would be his first temporary stint elsewhere.

Tyler Dibling

Dibling, 18, has taken the Premier League by storm during his debut senior season and as such is drawing transfer interest from several clubs.

The academy graduate is currently most strongly linked to Tottenham Hotspur but there are plenty of others lurking - including RB Leipzig.

But Saints are extremely reluctant to sell him this month and Juric insisted he believes he will be coaching Dibling for the rest of the season at least.

Worth a mention...

Aaron Ramsdale has been linked with interest from Newcastle United and will almost certainly depart the club in the summer - but now? Unlikely.

Kamaldeen Sulemana has always had either one foot out the door or one arm on him pushing him out but is a key player right now.

Paul Onuachu, similarly to Kamaldeen, has wanted to leave Saints on more than one occasion but has the potential to thrive under Juric.
