SAINTS could see relegation from the Premier League sealed this weekend, providing results elsewhere also work against them.
A midweek game will set the stakes for Sunday. Saints host Crystal Palace on Wednesday, when defeat – coupled with a win for Wolves the previous night against West Ham – would leave them 20 points adrift of safety with 24 to play for.
Manager Ivan Juric has lost all six of his home Premier League matches, while only Mick McCarthy and Vincent Kompany ever lost their first seven.
Saints could then be relegated on Sunday should they fail to beat Spurs, providing Wolves once more win their game a day earlier against Ipswich.
Equally, should Saints record a draw against Palace but Wolves win both of their matches, a defeat in the capital city will confirm their demotion.
It means Juric's side could be relegated with seven games still to play and will cast further doubt over the manager's immediate future.
Saints have nine points from 29 games so far this season and have conceded the league's highest average expected goals per match on record.
